Working in commercial litigation and intellectual property, Melissa Corbutt is experienced in identifying, protecting and enforcing her client’s rights.
In her capacity as a lawyer, Melissa can advise clients on the ability to register their trade marks and lodge trade mark applications for them. She can also prepare and respond to trade mark opposition proceedings and prepare all agreements necessary to protect the ownership of her clients intellectual property. When necessary, Melissa will institute or respond to legal proceedings in relation to intellectual property and commercial litigation, arranging and attending settlement conference for the cost efficient resolution of disputes.
Melissa also specialises in online intellectual property. She has successfully litigated trade mark and domain name disputes including the defence of a World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) claim involving over 30 domain names, and enforcement of intellectual property rights by injunctions. She has drafted contracts for the commercialisation and protection of intellectual property rights, confidentiality agreements, web site development agreements, e-commerce agreements, and licence agreements.
Melissa has successfully delivered multiple seminars relating to intellectual property and litigation and is a staunch advocate for protecting her clients rights in these areas.
