Peter Kuek-Kong Lee has specialist expertise in migration that has stemmed from more than 24 years as a professional Immigration Officer in the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). During his time in DIAC (1979-2003), he worked in their operational, policy and secretariat areas, gaining good insights in how the department functioned. He has had six overseas postings with the department, completing service in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, China and USA. He served as the head of the Immigration Section in his last five postings with DIAC. His last posting was to Shanghai from 1999-2002. While still with the department, he was awarded the department's 1991 Australia Day Medallion.

Since resigning from the Immigration Department in 2003, Peter worked as a specialist migration lawyer and has represented many clients successfully in the Department of Immigration and in the Migration Review Tribunal. Peter’s background makes him a key figure in the Asian business services department.
