Barrie specializes in all aspects of corporate and securities law. Having practiced law for 30 years, Barrie has worked for some of the largest and most highly acclaimed law firms in the world, often overseeing settlements and syndications for major banks and international financial corporations, e.g. Chase Manhattan Bank and Citibank, as well as providing high level legal advice in and around all aspects of corporate capital raisings, functioning and compliance.

In particular, Barrie has obtained extensive experience in respect of cross border transactions whilst working for an established legal practice in Hong Kong for many years, which involved:

  • assisted with specialist corporate matters, including Mergers, Acquisitions, Initial Public Offers, Leveraged and Managed Buy Ins and Outs; and
  • provided specialist corporate advisory service in regard to Initial Public Offers and debt and equity capital raising on the AIM, LSX, JSE, NSX and ASX and unlisted preference share and debenture issues.

Barrie is passionate about endurance running, and in particular competing in and training for marathons. Barrie completes a program of three marathons a year, which requires on average running 80 to 110 kilometres every week in preparing for each marathon race.

The discipline required to train for a marathon has strong carry over effects into his work and personal life. This brings flow through advantages to Barrie's work life, making him to be far more alert, and on a personal level, the running community stretches far and wide.

Away from my running, Barrie love to watch classic black and white movies, such as Casablanca and the Maltese Falcon, and drinking too many coffees (coffee is an addiction of his). One day he would love to be given a hot lap in a formula one racing car but thinks this will remain an unfulfilled ambition.
